How to tie rakhi?



Raksha Bandhan, or "the bond of protection" is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a thread called a rakhi around their brother's wrist as a symbol of their love and care. The tying of the rakhi is an important part of the festival, and there are a few specific steps that should be followed. 

First, the sister ties the rakhi around her brother's right wrist while saying a prayer or blessing. Next, she offers him a sweet treat and may also apply a tilak, or ceremonial mark, on his forehead. Finally, the brother promises to protect his sister and gives her a gift in return. Tying a rakhi is a simple but significant way to celebrate the special bond between siblings.
